iPhone 5C from Sprint showing only as GSM Beta capable on BYOD checker
Answered

Hello,

I'm looking to acquire an iPhone 5C from Craigslist to replace a dead iPhone 4S.  I got the ESN and when i run it through the BYOD checker, it reports back that it's GSM Beta capable.  Does this mean it won't work on CDMA?

Been happy with the CDMA service here, so want to make sure it stays the same.

  • That does not sound like a valid result if it is a Sprint phone.  It may have the option of use on GSM, but if teh ESN is clear it should work on CDMA (and if it is not clear, it should not work on GSM either). Try refreshing the screen and run the ESN again. If you get the same result and you are sure it is a Sprint phone, I would contact Ting to have them check it.

  • That was it, ran it through again and it's working as a CDMA phone as expected.
