Will ting support Fairphone 2

  • Their website currently only says it "supports 4G LTE/3G/2G" and will have more info when it goes on sale.

Until they list supported frequencies no one knows for sure. Chances are it will work with 2G for voice and text, but it may or may not get 3G, 4G LTE with Ting GSM.

More one the requirements for GSM phones:

  • Just wanted to add my hope for Ting's support of Fairphone 2. I really want to stick with Ting, but i'm tempted to move to a new service to be able to use the Fairphone. It's just such a great idea and my current phone is failing fast. But i'd love to stay with Ting if at all possible.

  • Right now the Fairphone 2 supports the bands 1900, WCDMA Bands 1, 2, 8 and LTE Bands 3, 7 and 20. So at the moment, it'd only be able to get 2G with us (which means voice, text and very slow data).

Hopefully they'll come out with a version that supports Band 4 (the 3G and 4G band we support) because, absolutely, it is a very cool piece of technology!

  • @Brian, thanks for the info! I'd be happy to buy the Fairphone for use with Ting in spite of slow or no data, but that's only because I try to only use data-reliant tools when connected to wifi, but I know that's not a realistic option/ desire for most people. Hoping they jump on Band 4 soon!
