Moto X Pure Edition for Ting CDMA?

I know it's early, but the hype is pretty strong for the new Moto X (Style). Motorola is releasing a factory unlocked "Pure" edition that is not unlike the Nexus 5/6 where it's setup to function on nearly all networks in the US.

Given the precedent for instant BYOD on Ting with the Nexus phones, is there any chance that we'll be able to do the same with the Motorola?

I really need a Nexus 5 replacement and this phone is looking pretty good to me. It's either that or wait for the next Nexus release, which could be quite a while.

  • I am right with you. Current Nexus 5 owner thinking that the Moto X Pure would be a worth successor. Hopefully a Ting blog post is forthcoming....

  • I'm right there with you guys. I have an HTC One M7 which has a horrible problem with the camera taking everything in purple (sensor overheats and damages it making everything go purple) and I'm tired of my friends calling it the Barney phone. Not many new phones out there that are even interesting to me, but this would be.

  • I just pre-ordered this phone. Hope Ting is going to support it soon.

  • @Quan, according to this post, they are going through the same channels we are in pre-ordering to test for it being capable. https://help.ting.com/hc/communities/public/questions/205210498-Can-I-use-a-Moto-X-Pure-Edition-on-Ting-with-CDMA-?locale=en-us I pre-ordered mine too in hopes that it does indeed work.

  • My Moto X PE showed up today. No luck activating though. I talked to support and they said Brad (Ting guy from the thread Nate linked) is the one who works with Sprint on things like this. I would make sure to watch the other thread also.

  • @Luke, having any luck yet? I'm obviously now fairly concerned since mine is still in the building stage and hasn't shipped but you're already having activation failures.

  • Nate, and anyone else landing here:
A Ting support person is in this thread: https://help.ting.com/hc/communities/public/questions/205210498-Can-I-use-a-Moto-X-Pure-Edition-on-Ting-with-CDMA-
There seems to be a little more movement there. (Same thread that Nate linked)

  • Just got my moto x pure and Ting DOES NOT support GSM for this device but it does support CDMA. Support person is sending me a CDMA card. just so everyone knows because I wasted my mula on a GSM card.

  • It would be nice if Ting could come out officially announce which service is going to be supported. Rather than this guessing game.
