SIM adapters... Going from micro to mini... (Not a more modest dress, mind you.)
Answered

I recently bought and am returning a Verykool Maverick S5518 - A horribly-"designed" phone with conflicts and stupidity all wrapped up in one :-) It uses a micro-SIM

So... I found a superior company's phone at a much better price but it takes a mini-SIM. Yeah, there are adapters out there but I have also seen them in person at big box and mall kiosks and they're not very firm on the grip of the micro-SIM. I have yet to put one to use but, even though there is "play" probably allowed with the contact between device and SIM, I'd just hate to be driving, hit a bump, and lose cell service.

So, any success stories out there? Could you name (or link) what you got? I've got the new phone arriving later this week and need to wrangle an adapter ASAP.

Thanks you Ting-a-lings out there!

  • I have used the Ting GSM SIM, first as a nano-SIM and then as a micro-SIM using the adapter parts that cam with the SIM. I had no issues whatsoever with that combination.

  • Bruce,

I still have those parts, they are flimsier than the adapters I didn't like and weren't designed to re-take the broken out SIM.

Did you do anything like use superglue or tape on the back?

  • No, I just snapped in the SIM and placed it in the phone. (Nexus 5)

  • Great - I'm encouraged on this one...

Glad to get rid of the Verykool too!
