Do you have a Moto X 3rd Gen (Pure Edition) Running on CDMA? I have an experiment I need your help with.

Hello all you beautiful Ting customers! I hope you're having a wonderful day.

I'm currently trying to help someone out with a 3G connection problem we are experiencing for this specific phone on the CDMA network.

I was wondering if any of you helpful folks would be able to test something out for me. It should only take a few moments of your time!

I need you to change the network mode of your Moto X to a 3G only mode and let me know if it works properly, or if you get no connection at all.

You can do this by going into Settings > More Networks > Mobile Networks.

There, you should see a Network Mode (or Preferred Network Type) option. Change this to '3G' (it may also be called 'CDMA only')

After doing this, restart your phone and report back here on the results (if it stayed connected to data, or no). No matter the result, you can change the network mode back to what it was before to continue using 4G LTE service.

Thank you for your help!

  • Mine didn't work, I ported my number to verizon pre-paid this morning and the 3g is working fine on it. Sprint's lte isn't nearly as robust as verizon so you really need 3g support to fall back on. If you get it figured out let me know, I'll probably port back to ting.
