Please please please bring Ting internet to my hometown!!!!

Dear Ting,
I humbly request that you please use my hometown as your next beta site for Ting Internet service. I live in a city monopolized by Comcast and where competition is lacking, customers are taken advantage of. The only other option we have for wired internet is AT&T and the highest speed they offer is a whopping 3Mb.

I live in North Aurora, IL. Please help remove us from Comcasts Tyranny!!!

  • I'd recommend signing up your city on their internet request page to increase your chances:

    Good luck!

  • In addition, I'd suggest reaching out to your municipality and seeing if it's something they're interested in. Then they can reach out to us via the same form, or by other means.

Having an interested municipality that wants to bring Fiber to their community could drastically increases the odds of the whole thing happening.

  • Can you give me in broad terms what you are looking for from a municipality in terms of interest or commitments?

    Thanks,

    Jim from Eden Prairie, MN.

  • in westminster, md. the city bought verizon fiberoptic cable and installed it. ting administers and maintains the infrastructure. not competitive pricing for working class citizens (compared with comcast promos) but much cheaper for buisnesses. the city treasury receives lease payments for the line so its still cooperative.

  • Hi James, the municipality will typically need to build dark fiber in the main corridors of your town and release an RFP for fiber ISPs to build out the last mile for said fiber.  In the case of Westminster MD, the city built out their fiber network entirely and we have an agreement with them to provide service over this network; they perform all installations and maintenance over this fiber plant and we only work at the premise-level for installations and service.
