Port number to existing Ting SIM?
Answered

I got a Ting SIM to test out the service before fully committing. I'd now like to transfer my number from Verizon, but can't find a way to do so other than buying another SIM. Is there a way to do this, or do I have to wait until I can order and receive the SIM?

Once a number has been programmed on a SIM, it cannot be changed. You need a new SIM.

  • I assume you are talking about Ting GSM. I do not think Verizon phones work on Ting CDMA.

  • Yes, it's a Verizon CDMA device but I have a Ting SIM in it. I've ordered a replacement SIM so I can port number over. Thanks!

  • In general, a CDMA SIM card can be reused, whereas a GSM SIM card cannot. Since your Verizon device presumably had a CDMA SIM card, you would be able to reuse that, provided the Verizon device were unlocked and compatible with Ting's CDMA (Sprint) network. If you were experimenting with activating your Verizon device on Ting's GSM (T-Mobile) network, you will likely need a new Ting GSM SIM card before you can proceed with activation.
