Having Read-Only Access To Usage Reports

Recently, I talked to a customer who suggested either a read-only mode, or a read-only version of the Ting App that can be installed by parents or guardians on a child/ward device so they can see their usage, but not make changes.

Personally, I think it's a great idea as a toggleable feature, though not so much as a different app because people would get confused between the "full" version and the "Nanny" version.

As a feature built in to the existing app, I can see the merit because I'm a parent too, and I understand. So, if we could do this and have the toggle password protected, I think it would be a selling feature. Naturally, if there's multiple MDNs on an account, the "Nanny" version would need to filter, and that's likely to be a lot of work, but I think it would be worth it.

  • Hey Seann,

This is an interesting idea/thought that your customer brought up. I'm adding it to the discussion to get some more feedback and to find out if this is possible. It might be too complicated to create but it is totally worth having a discussion about. Let your customer know we appreciate the input!
