Upgrade iPhone 6 to iPhone 8

I have an:

iPhone 6 (Ting - Sprint - CDMA) and I would like to upgrade to an:

iPhone 8 (Ting - Sprint - CDMA)

Do I just take the SIM card out of my old phone and put it in the new phone?

Is there anything else I have to do?

  • Hey Keith,

Because of how Sprint does their SIM cards, it's not as easy as just switching the SIM cards over. You could do this with our GSM cards, but the CDMA cards are usually specific to the model of phone.

That's why we have this article on our website that shows you which SIM cards are needed for which phones. If you already have a Sprint CDMA SIM card from the iPhone 8 you can just use that instead of needing a new one.

If you don't already have a Sprint CDMA SIM card specifically for the iPhone 8, it uses the Z2 (currently sold out in our store) or the C7 SIM card. Once you have the C7 SIM in-hand, it's as easy as running through ting.com/activate to move your phone number over to it. Then you just put the C7 SIM card in your iPhone 8 and turn it on, and your service will switch over.
