Will you be able in the future to allow devices to be active/inactive various times of the day? Kind of like a thermostat? My kids at school might not be paying attention as they should sometimes or could be up late at night past bedtime.

  • Hey Robert,

We have considered this a few times in the past.

The feature request has been submitted to our development team and we've brought it up at meetings. Every time it's discussed, we're reminded not only of how much money it would cost to develop and maintain (IFTTT or similar services are not free to the products, but are free to customers), but the limited number of our customers who would take advantage means it's just cost-prohibitive.

It absolutely would be nice to be able to schedule downtimes on the service provider side of things, but the network switches aren't designed to be flipped that often. Any any switches on the network provider side (our side) wouldn't be useful if your kids connect to your home WiFi instead of the cell network.

A more robust and complete solution already exists, though! My favorite example is the Circle by Disney, which allows you to not only restrict data usage at specific times, but also works over your home WiFi, which any controls made by us wouldn't be able to do. You can set geo-fences, restrict certain content and set time limits, which it sounds like is exactly what you're looking for.
