Anyone have trouble porting to T-mobile

You would thing moving my ting number that was a GSM (T-Mobile) to T-Mobile proper (for my new job) would be pretty easy.  4 days ago it started...they are now saying that it might be up to 48 more hours "because i'm coming from a mvno".

Is this legit does it really take 4-6 days to port from ting to another carrier because ting is a mvno?  I hope my number is not lost in the ether forever.

  • Hey Jeff,

A typical port will complete in 24 hours or less assuming the information provided matches what is on file with the previous carrier, with Ting that means porting out requires access to your account number and port out PIN.

There are however ports that do require 5-7 days and those would be for numbers designated as landline or VoIP. This would not be impacted by porting to our from an MVNO but if your number was originally designated as one or the other that would explain the delay.

  • Thanks @christian - my number was originally obtained from Verizon Wireless probably 20 years ago now.  I don't believe there's anything wrong with the account info/pin from Ting that I gave them as my number no longer shows in my ting account (still have another line).
