  • Hey Jay, Welcome to Ting!

If you haven't already, you'll want to uninstall the FreedomPop app and the FreedomPop Messaging app -- you won't need either to use your phone on Ting.

Then you'll want to do a profile update on your phone. Every phone is different, but if you need help just let me know what model of phone you have and I'll do my best to walk you through it.

If a profile update doesn't fix it, you might need to reset your phone's connection to the towers.

On most android phones, you can do this by going to your phone's regular dialer app (usually just called "Phone") and calling ##72786#. On Motorola and Nexus/Pixel devices the number is #*#*72786#*#* and on every iPhone the number is ##873283#

If all that fails, you'll want to get in touch with our support team at ting.com/support -- we're under some heavy load right now, so wait times are longer than normal, but we WILL get back to you as soon as we're able.

  • My personal favorite is Textra but I've also heard great things about Messages.

Having used both in the past, I liked Textra because it allowed me to customize a bit more than Messages did. If customization isn't really key to your messaging app, either would work fine. They both do largely the same thing.

  • Yes, your phone is already active! And don't worry about being very good with this stuff -- that's what we're for.

Per the details you saw on the FreedomPop transition page, the $6 includes unlimited Talk and Text, but no data. Data can be purchased for $4/GB.

  • Just turn data on in your dashboard and use it! We'll update your bill and you'll see it at the end of the month.

  • I switched from the FreedomPop to the FreedomPop deal last night and nothing works. My phone will not make/take a call, or text.

My phone turns on data automatically when wi-fi is off - which the phone does each time I start up. And due to that, my account activity

automatically showed a $4.00 charge for 1GB data. I can no longer get through to the help line - my emails have gone unanswered,

the chat line does not work and I want off this crazy ride! I'm about to contact FCC and my credit card company. What on earth is going on?

  • Hi Steve,

We are still experiencing a longer than normal wait time for our email responses and phone lines. Our chat feature has been disabled due to the larger than normal amount of people reaching out to us on the system.

If you transferred your number over and are having issues making calls and texts you may need to remove any FreedomPop apps that you have on your phone and also perform a profile update on the phone. A profile update can be done directly from your phone's keypad by pressing  ##72786#.

If you try that and are still having issues with calling and texting we would have to look at your account on the backend. If you have a phone you could use to call our support line it would be the quickest way to get the issue resolved. There is still a wait time at the moment but it will be a shorter wait then our email response at the moment.

If you do decide you don't want to use our service and want to take your phone number to a different carrier we do provide all port out information in your Ting My Account. We have a guide on how to do this which I can link you to here
