billing issue

i just recenlty switched from freedom pop to ting, i signed up for the $6.oo plan, i checked my billing status and it says i used 53 mega bytes data and i already owe $52, this is not posible, i shut off my data when i signed up, can someone please help me, before i cancel and dispute the charges..

  • i think i see now.. i have used 53 mega bytes or 52.01.. so now i owe the $4 gb bill.. but still i shut off my data so i dont see how it used any..

     That doesn't seem right at all. With the FreedomPop promotional offer, it is $6 for unlimited talk and text and then $4 for every GB of data. We have a bill shock prevention built into every account so that it can't pass 5GB of data that way not allowing you run up a huge data bill without confirming it was something that you wanted to do. Where do you see the total amount of $52? Does it say this on your Current Usage page at the top right under the blue bar?

  • Ahhh okay, that makes a little more sense. 

    Did you turn off the mobile data connection on your phone or did you do it directly from your Ting Dashboard? If you did it on your phone, some phones (and apps) have what they call wifi to assist built into them which will use mobile data while on WiFi to help keep a connection. Turning data off directly on your account is the best way to cut data completely off so that you won't get any charges. 

    If you open a ticket with our support team at help@ting.com I can find it and take a look if you are unsure if you turned it off directly on the account or on the phone.

  • no its under the data usage,, im not very good at this stuff.. stiil dont know how it used any at all ive had my data off since i signed up to make sure billing was correct for the first month

  • I can totally help walking you through how to turn it off. We have a guide here that you can use or follow these instructions:

     

    -Log into your Ting My Account

    -On the left-hand side find the Device Settings tab and click on that

    -You will now be on your Device Settings page and you will see your phone number listed in the active section

    -To the right of your phone number you will see an edit/pencil icon, click on that and it will take you to the next page

    -This page is where you will be able to turn off the different features on your account. 

    -Scroll down to until you see Megabytes

    -Once again click on the edit/pencil icon, this will bring a pop up window on the screen.

    -Turn the data off by using the toggle to the right of where it says "Can use data"

    -Hit the save button. 

     

    And that's it! If you want to turn the data back on later you will just need to follow these steps again.
