  • after 30GB service is cut until next billing cycle. check ting shop for pricing. think it is $25 now. it's a great deal although some have had defective units.

hilariosly my lte connection went down for a few hours after first posting this. still for the price and compared to all other cell data deals, it's reliable enough.

  • George is exactly right on this.

The device itself is $25 + tax. Service every month is $25 + tax for 30GB of capped LTE data. There is no throttle or additional charge and we can't permit additional data once you've reached 30GB except by shortening your billing cycle to reset it. If we do that, you're probably paying more than $25 that month.

  • $25 for 30 GB of data is a good deal, but this offer would be more attractive to me if data were available in 30 GB chunks at $25 a chunk, with addition of the next chunk being automatic instead of interrupting service. Even with a cap of two or three chunks, it would be attractive. I'm considering alternatives to DSL, which is sometimes unreliable.

  • Hi Steven,

With this offer, the details were very specific with our network partner so there are no plans to increase the data cap over 30 GB per device. You could buy multiple devices and rotate them after usage is complete on each one if you were looking for an alternative solution but then every month you would be paying the $25 per device you have on your account.

  • Hi Christopher,

You're correct that once you have the device and activate it you will be on the 30 GB for $25 plan. It will automatically be activated with the offer every month that follows until the device is deactivated or canceled. You won't have to do anything to have it available to you after you activate it just know that once you deactivate or cancel we will not be able to apply the promotional plan to the device again.

  • Is this hotspot device and deal still being offered by Ting? I can't find it for sale on the website anywhere. I am currently using a hotspot device that I purchased through FreedomPop and had transferred over to Ting but my 20 gig for $20/month deal on it ends next month.

  • Hi Jeffrey,

We are sold out of the devices at the moment and don't have any plans on getting more in any time soon. The plan was tied to the hotspot with our network partner so we aren't able to offer it on another device.

With your promo plan from the migration ending at the end of March, you may need to make the decision on what you would want to do for a hotspot. We can only offer our standard pay for what you use rates which depending on your data might not be the right decision. If they don't work and have to switch out of Ting the good thing is that it's no contract and no cancelation fees. You would be able to leave and if we do get more of the hotspots in you would be able to come back.

  • If Ting doesn't plan on selling this hotspot device anymore are they going to be selling a different hotspot device with a similar deal? I think it is very unfair that new customers can't take advantage of the great deal that was being offered ($25/month for 30 gigs) simply because Ting doesn't have the device available. I have been using about 10-15 gigs of data/month on my old device since being transferred over from FreedomPop and choosing the $20/month for 20 gig offer. Unfortunately, it would be cost prohibitive for me to stay with Ting using their regular rates with this amount of data usage.

  • I have a deactivated Franklin R850 I'd love to have recycled for use but, I understand once deactivated they're IMEI's are put on the no-go list. Seems very wasteful for such a great little transceiver.

  • Hi Jeffrey,

The hotspot was a limited promotion that we had worked out with our network partner with a set amount of devices available. Once they were gone we did try to negotiate to get more but it didn't happen. We're always looking at other options and although we don't have one right now to offer I suggest still keeping an eye on our blog. We'll announce any new promotions there for everyone to see.

The good thing about Ting is that we are no contract so you are able to come and go as you need. When the promotional plan that you have from migrating over from FreedomPop ends I agree that you may want to consider switching out if your data usage is going to remain the same. The cost of our standard rates is not going to help you save on your phone bill which is what Ting wants to help you do at the end of the day.
