New iPhone 8+ price is $60 HIGHER than buying directly from Apple.

Just wondering if this is typical. I've been w/Ting for several years and would like to buy from them, but $489 vs. $549 is significant to me.

  • Hi Dennis,

When I check Apple.com I only see iPhone 8+ at $549 for the 64GB version. Do you have a link for the $489 out of curiosity?

If it is $60 cheaper to get through Apple I would totally suggest going through them to save. We get the phones directly from them and our prices are set so if you can get a better deal it's worth taking. Just make sure that it is the unlocked (or carrier free version) of the phone and it will work on our network.

  • So when I went back to the Apple page and hit refresh the price changed from $489 to $549. MY BAD. Sorry!

While I have your attention...This would be a replacement for an iPhone 6 on my account. Would I just swap out the simm card from the iPhone 6 to the 8+.

  • I hate it when that happens! But yeah, if you ever see a price direct from the manufacturer and that's less than our price I would always say take advantage of the savings.

For the SIM card if you are on the GSM network you can use the same SIM card but if you are on the CDMA network you would need a new SIM. iPhone 6 takes a Z1 SIM and the new iPhone 8+ would need one of our C7 SIM cards. If you are not sure which network you are on we have it listed in your Ting My Account in the Device Settings tab.
