Service fails on Vegas vacation with two different phones

Hi folks. I love Ting and I'm going to keep it, but, a minor irritant: I go to Vegas every other month or so, and the T-Mobile GSM hasn't worked well with either my Nokia 3310 or my Apple iPhone 4s, and when I returned both phones worked perfectly. The Nokia didn't connect at all for the first 24 hours, but then did connect to Edge. The iPhone dd connect right away, but then faded in and out. One moment in my hotel room I could text, then--pop--no service again. At least I could use messenger with the 4S and wifi to keep my friend informed (as in "I'm getting my a** kicked at the Craps table! Stay away"). I return in December and I guess I'll bring the Nokia, but in the long run...

End of next year, Ting won't support t-Mob/AT&T GSM anyway... so ought I start shopping now for, say, an unlocked Verizon CDMA iPhone 5 and give it a go? Buy a phone remains an option, though I'm not a huge fan of the phones in your store.

  • Sorry to hear about the connection issues while you are visiting Vegas. When you are looking for a new phone an unlocked Verizon phone is a good idea but so is an unlocked multi-network flagship phone which would give you the best opportunity to pick up the different frequencies while you are traveling. We can help you track one down that fits your needs with our Personal Shopper team. It's a team here that helps people find phones outside of our shop page based on their specifications and what they are looking for. Feel free to reach out to them here and they would be more than happy to look into finding you a phone.
