when i am in active call unable to use GPS do i have to change my plan?
This is a quirk that exists on the Sprint network. Without putting to fine a point on it, if your phone is not using VoLTE (Most Sprint phones don't), then you're not able to access any data while on a phone call. This is because the radios inside Sprint phones can only really handle one stream at a time, as there's only one radio.
There are a few ways around this, though. If your phone does support VoLTE (Sprint phones have it turned off by default), you can turn it on to be able to make calls and access data at the same time.
If your phone doesn't support it, or if you're looking for a simpler solution we recommend downloading offline maps while over WiFi, so you don't need to use your data connection for anything other than traffic information, if necessary. On our blog, we've covered Google Maps and Maps.me in offline mode.
As previously stated, using the maps this way only doesn't get you real-time traffic data, but everything else including the maps themselves, driving directions and even local businesses, will be downloaded for offline (including when on a non-VoLTE phone call).
If you'd like help with either solution, just let me know what phone you're using and I'll do the rest of the heavy lifting!
