After switch from Verizon, voice calls often don't work.

I switched from Verizon with the same phone I was using there. After porting my number over and getting service activated with the new SIM card, everything is working except voice calls often don't work - incoming and outgoing. If I'm unable to make a call, I can restart the phone and it will work fine, until maybe the next time I want to make a call. I've played with Android settings per info I've found here, but it's the same. Tried wi-fi calling on and off.

It also seems like I may have a T-Mobile SIM but I want a Verizon SIM. Much better service in my area. I see APN T-Mobile LTE.

I always get "SIM card is not from Verizon Wireless" after restarting the phone.

  • Hey Darrell,

The "SIM card is not from Verizon Wireless" is an error I've seen before that as annoying as it can be doesn't impact the performance of the phone, the phone was likely just made/sold with the intention of having it used on the Verizon network though it is compatible with others.

Your issue could be linked to HD voice/VoLTE so I would look for that setting and make sure it is enabled, that way your phone will have the best connection possible for voice and SMS service.

With the SIMs the BYOD tool will send an X3 if there was coverage for that network in your area, in your case as it is not possible to port directly from Verizon to a Verizon MVNO. I'd suggest contacting support to see what your options would be with your account and going from there, assuming the VoLTE/HD Voice setting doesn't resolve your issues.
