New SIM Card has worse coverage

I installed the new SIM card in my iPhone a little over a week ago, went out to our vacation home last week and NO SERVICE on the phone. We are in a poor cell reception area on the Colorado river but with the old SIM card I could usually get cell service by standing away from the house; now there's nothing. Ting website indicates that I should have coverage at 92267 zip. I figured out that I could use a WiFi assist with my phone but that doesn't help when I'm out of WiFi range. My husband's good old flip phone worked ok.

This past weekend while in 90249 zip, also had lousy coverage with the LTE, and had to rely on a WiFi that was available at the house I was visiting, and that was an urban area!

Can I please switch back to the old SIM? I still have it.

  • Hi Gabriela,

Thanks for reaching out here on the forums and sorry to hear that you are having issues with your coverage. We would need to look at your account to see what networks that we can switch you to based on your phone and what is available. If you are on the Sprint network before we would not be able to switch you back to that as it is being shut down in January of 2022 but there are still other options.

If you reach out to our customer support by phone, email, or online chat one of our representatives would be happy to take a look at account information and investigate some options for you.

  • Just did the swap, and barely have service at my home after previously being on Sprint (via Ting). Came on here to see if anyone else had this problem. Bummer!
