Looking at the specs it's all good band wise but the only thing I can't confirm is VoLTE on our network. Not having VoLTE will stop it from being activated and we would need an IMEI to be able to check it. Our checker to determine if it is VoLTE compatible but we won't be able to tell in advance here.
I'm keeping an eye out to see if anyone activates one of the phones on Ting Mobile and will come back to confirm one way or the other.
I tried and failed to activate a Pixel 6 Pro today. It recognizes it as a Ting SIM but then there is an exclamation point next to the cell signal. I put the SIM back in my Pixel 2 and I do have signal here. Support told me there was a tower down in my area, but that doesn't make sense if my Pixel 2 is fine with the same SIM.
Don't post it here (because it's best to keep that protected) but the IMEI would tell us if it's VoLTE compatible. If you shoot that off in the email you got from our representative or open an online chat with another representative they can take the number there and just check it.
Was it an unlocked version of the Pixel 6 Pro? The exclamation point usually means no connection but if it works in the Pixel 2 that's curious.
They sent me to the IMEI check on the web site, which I had already tried. It says compatible. Yet still the exclamation point with this phone and perfect connection on the Pixel 2.
I think the G8VOU is the AT&T version which could explain why the SIM is not working in it. Looking online I see BestBuy listing the unlocked version as GA03149-US. When you purchased this did the seller say it was unlocked?
I bought it at store.google.com and specifically chose the unlocked version. I guess it's possible they shipped two wrong phones. I'm not at home to check the non-Pro phone model number.
It might be worth emailing Google's support to find out if the model version is the unlocked version. The phone is so new to the market right now that there is not a lot of information available for model numbers yet but BestBuy and B&H both have that GA03149-US as the unlocked versions on their sites.
Ok, if that's what they say then I think we should try to proceed with it being the unlocked version.
The Verge had this article about having to update the software on day 1 that they posted yesterday. The source doesn't go into detail on what features are affected but it would still be worth the look to see what the build number on your 6 and 6 Pro are. According to this, they should read the build as SD1A.210817.036.
It could be this. I have been looking through the Google Pixel sub on Reddit and I did find one similar situation where a person was not getting a connection with one type of SIM and then once the update hit they were able to have their connection. The person was in the UK and was able to try different SIMs with some working and some not.
I'm still following along here to see if anything else comes up to share but that's the best lead at the moment.
Stupid update. I successfully activated a Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro this morning. For two days, nothing could get them to see the network. Then finally, the November update rolled out to these two phones late last night. Tried the SIM cards again this morning and everything works. Got 175Mbps speed test on 5G, too - with a terrible signal.
Google did not release the update to everyone at once. But since today's officially launch day it's available to everyone.
Hello, I activated a Pixel 6 today and had a similar experience with no signal until I updated to %.036. It now connects for voice and SMS but not data until I go into network preferences and select preferred network type at LTE, then the signal increases and I get data. Does it not auto select between 5G and LTE? This is my first 5G phone.
Looking online it looks like there's no option to make it auto choose the best network in an area so having to choose looks like the situation at the moment.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread (happy to start a new one if that keeps things better organized). My Pixel 6 (GB7N6) is not receiving system updates (still on the November update). I spoke with Google support and they told me it is a carrier issue. They talked me through using the web-based system to update (with my phone plugged into my computer), but when I got to the step to select carrier, it says the phone is not recognized as "T-mobile" or "other". Is anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions?
Click on the gear icon in the top right corner. It will show a list of all phones assigned to your Google account and what carrier they were initially associated with. Mine says "Ting - MVNO1" but my older Pixel 2 just says "T-Mobile - US" - I believe Google sent me a new SIM card when I had trouble initially activating, so that might be part of the difference.
Thank you for this - great to know it is possible to get pixel 6 updates on Ting! Mine also says "Ting - MVNO1" (my no-longer-in-use Pixel 3 says "T-Mobile - US"). I did switch to the X3 SIM card about a month ago. Given the erratic early updates with the Pixel 6, I'm not quite sure if the new SIM is related to my update woes or not.
Been following for a while and it looks like (please correct me if I am wrong) that Verizon and unlocked versions of the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will work with Ting Mobile? Can someone please confirm which SIM works best for them? Thanks!

Same question "will Ting support unlocked 6 or 6PRO?"

What do you need from me to figure this out?

Just tried to get my wife's Pixel 6 non-pro with her SIM card. Same problem. Even tried to swap SIMs with her - no change.
I also see there's a UK carrier with the same issue, according to Twitter. ID Mobile SIM card not working, but a Virgin SIM card works right away.
I don't have another carrier's SIM to test with, but it seems to be specific to the networks.
I wonder. Do you have the model number of the Pixel 6 Pro handy?
You mean like G8V0U? That's what comes up when I pull up "regulatory labels" on the device.

I wish I could email them. I tried store support but their phone and chat options are "full" - don't know where else to look.
The chat might be the quickest but I guess you could also try on the Google Pixel forum and see if that would attract a representative that way.
Their chat says:
I've checked my resources and it looks like an unlocked model and should work fine with any carriers.
Ok, if that's what they say then I think we should try to proceed with it being the unlocked version.

Saw that. They're apparently rolling out out gradually and neither my Pro or regular 6 are eligible yet.

Hi Ting Support, do your records show if anyone has successfully activated a Pixel 6 (or Pro) on your system yet?

Hey, that's great to hear Chad! I'm glad that the G8V0U is unlocked then and that all it needed was that update from Google.
So it looks like Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro is good for Ting Mobile!

Have a Pixel 6 Pro and a Pixel 6 in my household. Both have February's update. But this does sound like some sort of SIM issue.
What do you see if you go to this page on your PC?
