Hi Casey,
It does appear to be supported as it does not require an eSIM and the list of compatible networks included those we can provide service on. You should be able to move over your existing X1/X3 SIM and enter those APNs to get service but please do reach out to support if you need an additional SIM or have any other questions.
I now have the device and am trying to activate it. I logged in and clicked add device, and it asked for the IMEI number. I put it in the number, and it is telling me that this device is not compatible. Please advise on how to proceed.
Hello Casey,
Are you attempting to activate a new SIM card with the device?
If you already have an active SIM, you can swap the existing card into your new device to activate the service. You can also reach out to our live support representatives to assist you with the activation and determine the compatibility of the device.
I was just informed, after purchasing this device and trying to activate it per the guidance above, that this device is not, in fact, compatible with the network because "it isn't band 12 compatible". Devices must be: "VoLTE compatible, band12 compatible, and network unlocked."
Sorry to hear the device is not compatible Casey. All devices do require VoLTE, Band 12 and need to be network unlocked to work with our service. With ongoing changes to the network, these functions are required to activate a new device. It appears there are two versions of this watch, a SIM and eSIM version. Does the watch you purchased have a slot for a physical card?
Per the guidance above, I understood that I would need a Ting sim so I got the version that requires a sim. It takes a nano-sim. I was trying to order that sim card, and was not able to do so. Is there a way to activate this device on the Ting network? Can I get an activated sim card, and then put it into this device?
If a device is not compatible with our service, the activation would not complete successfully however for devices that are compatible, they can be activated by inserting an already active X3 SIM card. If your device supports eSIM and a nano-SIM, I would recommend confirming you are using the primary IMEI when checking compatibility.
