Highway Robbery

We’ve been a 4 line customer for 8 years. I’ve raved about Ting to friends and family for that long. Three months ago, my mobile data setting got switched on accidentally..(Battery Saver app?), causing my average $200-ish bill to shoot up to $750 dollars!!!! So for 3 months, we paid Ting in total $1941.00!!! I called, I begged, I pled. I simply cannot afford that. It has caused a hardship for my family, and the best they could do was partial credit me for this month’s over $300 bill. I shut the mobile data setting off, obviously, so the problem won’t continue, but unfortunately, because of Ting’s lack of recognition of customer loyalty and understanding of this MISTAKE, we are going to switch carriers.

  • I'm very sorry to hear you had that happen and I can relate to the frustration of having that happen. My recommendation would be follow the ideas the support team laid out as far as looking at a new plan that would better fit your usage patterns, in the meantime I also always suggest disabling data via the Ting account and not the device.

I do see how long you've been with us and I want to thank you for raving about us all these years! I hope this doesn't change your impression of us too much as we've done our best to absorb the cost of that accidental usage and give the best suggestions to help avoid anything like this in the future (whether with Ting or elsewhere)

If you do decide to port out the information is in your account and available anytime, please do reach out to support if there is anything we can do to win back your trust or if you have any other questions.

  • You can see from our 8 years of usage that we do not need a new plan, but that you won’t budge on extending a one time courtesy credit us for the exorbitant charges. You are able to charge $35/month for an unlimited plan, yet you charged me $757. I will absolutely be reporting this to the FCC as well as the BBB. There should be a cap in place, since we all can see that unlimited data is available for $35 or $40 per line.

  • There is the option to set caps (or alerts) on your usage account wide or by device, it appears there is currently one set to notify you via the  email on the account when a certain threshold is reached so I would suggest changing that to suspend usage at whatever level you do not wish to exceed (if you wish to continue with your current plan)

I understand if you wish to proceed with any complaints and wish you the best going forward, if you have any other questions or concerns please do reach out to support directly for help.
