Setting up Wi-Fi calling on your Android device is easy. First, check the device settings on your Ting account to turn on the Wi-Fi Calling feature. Then follow the directions below to enable Wi-Fi calling and set your calling preferences.
Note: For CDMA, if the option is not present on your Ting account, then your phone does not support this feature.
Enabling Wi-Fi Calling
To set up Wi-Fi calling on most phones:
- Go to your phone's Wireless and Network Settings.
- Select the More or More Networks option
- Find Wi-Fi Calling and enable it
Now your phone is ready to use Wi-Fi calling. Now you'll want to set your Wi-Fi calling preferences.
Setting Wi-Fi Calling Preferences
To set your calling preferences:
- Tap Wi-Fi calling (not the enable/disable button)
- Tap Connection preferences
- Choose from:
- Wi-Fi preferred - If a Wi-Fi network is available, your phone will use the Wi-Fi network rather than the cellular network
- Cellular network preferred - Your phone will only use a Wi-Fi network for calls if there is no cellular network available.
- Never use cellular network - Your phone will only use Wi-Fi networks for calls.

I am currently using an old T-mobile HTC G2 phone on Ting GSM. WiFi calling was possible on this phone when I had T-Mobile service. Is WiFi calling possible w/ Ting? I don't see the same screens as shown above, possibly because this phone runs Android 2.3.
Richard,
Did you have T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling recently? I believe they changed it and only devices that have it built in to the OS will work. I believe the Nexus 5 gets it later this year.
I used the HTC G2 T-mobile up until just over 2 years ago when I joined Ting
@Richard - if you look in your app menu you will see a WiFi button at the end of the list. The above instructions are for a later OS version.
Just switched to Ting and I am trying to set up wi fi calling on my Galaxy S4 but I do not find Wi Fi calling as an option in the above mentioned location. Do I need to download it?
Scott,
Ting is really 2 services. Are you using Ting CDMA on the Sprint network or the new Ting GSM on T-Mobile's network?
Go to https://ting.com/account/devices and look at what it says in the "NETWORK" column.
Currently, Wi-Fi Calling is only available on the Ting GSM network for select models of phones.
If you click on a GSM phone using the above link, there will be an option to enable Wi-Fi Calling.
I have enabled wifi calling on my account but I am getting "REG99 Unable to connect" on my former tmobile galaxy s5. Googling the code suggests this is often caused by 911 registration. Any suggestions?
O recommend waiting 15 minutes to allow changes to propagate across the network. Otherwise call or chat with Ting support for troubleshooting tips.
how to set up wifi calling on Verizon Samsung galaxy s6?
Hi Ratanak! Wi-fi calling isn't currently supported for Verizon phones on GSM. Generally speaking, the only phones that support wi-fi calling on the GSM network are T-Mobile phones. Specifically, these guys: http://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phones.price-low-to-high.wi-fi-calling.html
How Dobie set up wifi calling on my galaxy note 5 it's on GSM and I already activated it through ting but I can't find it in my phone?
I remind you that Wi-Fi calling uses Ting minutes, just like cellular calling.
If you have a T-Mobile galaxy Note 5 on Ting GSM, try this:
Turn on Wi-Fi calling
To turn on Wi-Fi calling, follow these steps:
From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
Tap Settings.
Scroll to 'Connections,' then tap More connection settings.
Tap Wi-Fi Calling.
Slide the Wi-Fi Switch right to the ON position.
Select the Wi-Fi preferred or Never use Cellular Network to turn on Wi-Fi calling.
Hi Keith! Bruce is on point : those are the steps to turn Wi-Fi calling on on your Note 5. Were you able to find the setting?
I have the Moto G4 and I have been trying to enable Wifi calling. Cell connection is virtually impossible where i live (no to barely perceptible signal). There is no menu item for Wifi calling on the G4.
Does that mean that that it is out of the question on GSM? And out of the question if i switch to CDMA?
My Alcatel fierce xl is saying under WiFi calling, error reg99 unable to connect. I don't know how to fix this because my phone was freaking out for a while and something happened and for a long time, I couldn't text over WiFi or even call. I use Walmart family Mobile which runs off of T-Mobile, and when I first got the phone, it worked fine. I tried different APNs settings, but none worked. Please help me find a solution to get past this. 😊
Im getting 911reg09 message ???? Can't use Wi-Fi calling email is qredburn85gmail.com
