Troubleshooting Wi-Fi Calling

Quick fixes to try firstStep-by-step troubleshootingCommon Wi-Fi Calling errors

Wi-Fi Calling can be a lifesaver when cell service is spotty—but if it’s not working the way it should, here are some simple steps to get things back on track.

Quick fixes to try first

  • Check your Wi-Fi connection. A weak or unstable signal is the most common culprit.
  • Restart your phone. Sometimes, a quick reboot is all it takes.
  • Update your device. Make sure your phone's operating system and carrier settings are current.

Step-by-step troubleshooting

1. Confirm Wi-Fi Calling is turned on

iPhone
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Phone.
  3. Select Wi-Fi Calling.
  4. Toggle Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone on.
Android
  1. Navigate to Settings.
  2. Tap Network & Internet.
  3. Select Mobile Network.
  4. Choose Advanced.
  5. Enable Wi-Fi Calling.

2. Reset your network settings

If things still aren’t working:

iPhone
  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Select General.
  3. Choose Transfer or Reset.
  4. Tap Reset.
  5. Select Reset Network Settings.
Android
  • Tap Settings.
  • Choose System.
  • Select Reset options.
  • Choose Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth.

3. Test with Airplane Mode

Turn on Airplane Mode, then enable Wi-Fi. This forces your phone to rely solely on Wi-Fi Calling. If that works, your signal may be too weak, causing interference.

4. Check Wi-Fi Calling preferences

Some Android devices let you choose between Wi-Fi preferred or Cellular preferred. Switching to Wi-Fi preferred can help in low-signal areas.

5. Still stuck? Try these

  • Remove and reinsert your SIM card.
  • Reboot your router.
  • Disable any VPN's or firewalls.

Common Wi-Fi Calling errors

Wi-Fi Calling Not Available- Check Wi-Fi connection, VPNs, and router ports.

Calls dropping or poor quality- Use a stronger Wi-Fi signal or move closer to the router.

Error Code: 07-08-00-02- Usually a SIM or provisioning issue—reboot your phone.

Calls failing with certain contacts- Dial the full 10-digit number, re-save the contact, and check for any call blocking.
