How to check compatibilityWhy some phones are not compatibleReady to activate?

Your phone’s compatibility with Ting depends on the bands, frequencies, and technologies it supports compared to what Ting requires. If your phone is missing a crucial component, it won’t be able to connect to our network.

To work with Ting, you'll also want to ensure your phone is unlocked and not bound to any contracts.

How to check compatibility

Checking your device’s compatibility is an important step when getting set up with Ting. This step helps us determine if your current phone can be brought over to Ting. To check the compatibility of your device, you can use our Ting Compatibility Checker.

How to find your IMEI for a compatibility check

  1. On your phone's dial pad, type *#06#, and your IMEI should appear.
  2. You can also locate your IMEI in your device settings:
Android
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap About phone.
  3. Look for IMEI.
iPhone‍
  1. Navigate to Settings.
  2. Select General.
  3. Tap About.

Why some phones are not compatible

When a device isn’t compatible with Ting, it’s usually due to one of these reasons:

  1. Frequency or Technology Mismatch: Ting uses specific bands and technologies, and not all phones support them.
  2. VoLTE Requirement: Ting requires VoLTE (Voice over LTE) for clear calls and simultaneous browsing.
  3. Device Flagged as Lost or Stolen: A phone reported lost or stolen may appear incompatible until the flag is removed by the reporting carrier.

Ready to activate?

Switching to Ting is simple:

  • Bring your number to Ting.
  • Activate a new number.
