Changes with the fiber network in Colorado Springs

Timeline for switching providersGetting address updatesSwitching providersWrapping up Ting internet serviceTing Mobile service in Colorado Springs

The fiber network owned and operated by Colorado Springs Utilities is switching the internet company that provides service to customers from Ting to gFiber in early 2027.

Customers in Colorado Springs currently subscribed to Ting service will continue to receive service from Ting until the network in their neighborhood is physically switched over to gFiber.

Ting customers in Colorado Springs need to sign up with gFiber if they want their service to switch over with this change. Ting will not be able to provide service after the network is switched over in a customer’s neighborhood.

The transition date will vary by neighborhood. Customers can stay up to date with email updates from gFiber.

Timeline for switching providers

Every neighborhood in Colorado Springs will have a slightly different schedule for the network transition.

  • Installations and transitions to gFiber in Colorado Springs will begin in early 2027.
  • Ting customers will be able to place orders for gFiber service this winter.
  • Ting customers can sign up now for email updates and to get priority installations.

You will continue to get Ting internet service up until gFiber service is available at your address.

That transition is not automatic, so you need to sign up for gFiber service before your transition date in order to keep getting internet service on the Colorado Springs Utilities fiber network.

Getting address updates

Ting will provide updates on your internet service and transition dates, sent to the email address on your Ting Internet account.

gFiber will send marketing to your physical address to make sure you’re aware of the transition timeline.

We strongly recommend you sign up for gFiber email updates on your service address to get the most up-to-date information on your network transition and service availability.

Switching providers

If you’re a current Ting Internet customer in Colorado Springs, you will need to switch from Ting to another internet service provider before the fiber network in your neighborhood switches from Ting to gFiber.

If you currently get Ting Internet service in Colorado Springs, you will be eligible for gFiber at that same address. You will continue to get Ting Internet service until gFiber is available (unless you choose to cancel).

In order to switch providers, you need to:

  • Select a new internet plan
  • Sign up for service
  • Schedule an installation
  • Return your Ting equipment using the pre-paid label

Please note: Don’t cancel your Ting service before you have new service installed. Once you cancel your Ting service in Colorado Springs, we won’t be able to restart your service if your new internet isn’t ready yet.

Wrapping up Ting internet service

Your Ting service will stop when your neighborhood network switches over to gFiber. There are only a few things you’ll need to do once your service is switched.

  • Confirm your new internet is working
    • The installer for your new service should demonstrate that the new service is working.
    • If you’re signed up for gFiber, there will be a few hours where you won’t have internet service until your gFiber service is installed. You’ll be informed of that time in as much detail as possible.
    • If you’re choosing an internet provider other than gFiber, you should wait to confirm that your internet is up and working before canceling Ting. There is always the possibility of delays and technical issues, and we want you to have as little downtime as possible.
    • Please note: Once you cancel Ting service in Colorado Springs, we are not able to restart your service.
