We don't have a feature to block calls from specific numbers. However, you can block unwanted text messages by visiting our Text Messaging articles for instructions. Some phones have built-in call-blocking features. If your phone doesn't have this feature and you have a smartphone, you can usually download an app to block calls.
Some Android phones offer a native call blocking feature. This is generally found in the Call settings and ensures that you aren't disturbed by calls from blocked numbers by sending them straight to voicemail.
For Android devices without native call blocking, a popular free app is Call Control - Call Blocker. It lets you set up black or white lists and choose how to handle blacklisted numbers. Options include sending them to voicemail, picking up then hanging up, or muting the ringer. It can even block entire area codes. You can also block text messages, including shortcodes.
We also like the app Hiya( Android | iOS) because it provides context for numbers outside your contact list. Hiya flags numbers as likely spam, a colleague from work, or an urgent call from the doctor’s office. It also allows you to manage and update a personalized block list and report nuisance callers.
iPhones running iOS 6 and up have a number-blocking feature for both calls and texts. Text messages from blocked numbers will go undelivered, while calls will go straight to voicemail. Both features can be found in the settings of their respective apps or within the contact card of the person you want to block.
You can explore more complex blocking apps for the iPhone, but the native options work well.
