No Service while roaming? We've Got You Covered!
Traveling abroad is exciting, but running into phone issues can be frustrating. If you're not getting any service while roaming internationally, follow these steps to get back online and enjoy your trip.
1. Confirm Coverage
Make sure you’re in a country where Ting offers international roaming. Check your coverage.
2. Enable Roaming on Your Phone
iPhone
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Cellular.
- Select Cellular Data Options.
- Turn on Data Roaming.
Android
- Open Settings.
- Select Connections.
- Tap Mobile Networks.
- Activate Data Roaming.
3. Restart Your Phone
Restarting often resolves connectivity issues. Turn your phone off, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on.
4. Turn Off Wi-Fi Calling
Wi-Fi Calling can sometimes interfere with roaming.
iPhone
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Phone
- Select Wi-Fi Calling and turn it off.
Android
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connections.
- Select Wi-Fi Calling and toggle it off.
5. Check Your Data Settings
Ensure your phone’s data settings are configured correctly. Follow the instructions in our data setup guide.
6. Reset Network Settings
If issues persist, resetting your network settings can help.
iPhone
- Open Settings.
- Tap General.
- Select Transfer or Reset.
- Tap Reset.
- Select Reset Network Settings.
Android
- Open Settings.
- Tap System.
- Select Reset Options.
- Select Reset Wi-Fi, Mobile & Bluetooth.
- Tap Reset Settings to confirm.
7. Manually Select a Network
iPhone
- Open Settings.
- Tap Cellular.
- Select Network Selection.
- Turn Automatic off.
- Choose a network from the list.
Android
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connections.
- Select Mobile Networks.
- Tap Network Operators.
- Search Networks and select a network manually.
8. Enable VoLTE
VoLTE can improve call quality and connectivity.
iPhone
- Open Settings.
- Tap Cellular.
- Select Cellular Data Options.
- Tap Voice & Data.
- Select LTE, VoLTE On.
Android
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connections.
- Select Mobile Networks.
- Tap Network Mode.
- Select LTE/WCDMA/GSM and enable VoLTE Calls.
9. Update Your Software
Ensure your device is running the latest software.
iPhone
- Go to Settings.
- Tap General.
- Select Software Update.
- Tap Download and Install, enter your passcode, and follow the prompts.
Android
- Open Settings.
- Tap System.
- Select Software Update.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
