Work through these in order. Most issues are fixed in the first few steps.

Quick checks

Start here. These take just a minute or two.

Turn off Wi-Fi, then try sending a text and opening a website.

Texts and data work? The issue is just with calls. Keep going.
Nothing works? You may have no service. Troubleshoot a device with no service

iPhone

Swipe down from the top right corner to open the Control Center.
If the airplane icon is highlighted, tap it to turn Airplane mode off.

Android

Swipe down from the top of your screen to open Quick Settings.
If Airplane mode is highlighted, tap it to turn it off.

Do Not Disturb can send calls straight to voicemail without ringing.

iPhone

Swipe down from the top right corner to open the Control Center.
If Focus or the moon icon is highlighted, tap it to turn it off.

Android

Swipe down from the top of your screen to open Quick Settings.
If Do Not Disturb is highlighted, tap it to turn it off.

A quick restart refreshes your connection to the Ting network and fixes a lot of issues.

Thick walls, basements, and metal roofs can block your cell signal. Step outside and try your call again.

Calls work outside but not inside? Something in the building is weakening your signal. Turning on Wi-Fi Calling lets your phone use your Wi-Fi to keep calls connected indoors. Learn about Wi-Fi Calling
Calls don't work outside either? Keep going.

Check the number

Having trouble with one number in particular? Check these next.

Include the area code, like 555-555-1234.

Remove the contact from your phone and add them back. This makes sure their number is stored correctly.

Check your settings

Still having trouble? A few settings can stop calls from going through.

A blocked number can stop calls from coming through.

iPhone

Go to Settings.
Tap Phone.
Select Blocked Contacts.

Android

Samsung Galaxy

Open your Phone app.
Tap More (three dots).
Select Settings.
Tap Block numbers.

Google Pixel and most other Android phones

Open your Phone app.
Tap More (three dots).
Select Settings.
Tap Blocked numbers.

This setting sends calls from numbers that aren't in your contacts straight to voicemail.

Go to Settings.
Tap Phone.
Select Silence Unknown Callers.
Turn it off.

If call forwarding is on, your calls may be going to another number.

Open your phone's keypad, dial *73, and tap call. This turns off call forwarding.

VoLTE (Voice over LTE) gives you clearer calls and a more stable connection.

iPhone

Go to Settings.
Tap Cellular.
Select Cellular Data Options.
Tap Voice & Data.
Choose LTE or 5G, and make sure VoLTE is on.

Android

Samsung Galaxy

Go to Settings.
Tap Connections.
Select Mobile networks.
Turn on VoLTE calls.

Google Pixel and most other Android phones

Go to Settings.
Tap Network & internet.
Select SIMs.
Turn on VoLTE.

Not seeing a VoLTE option? Your phone likely turns it on automatically.

Make sure your phone is set to use 5G or LTE.

Android

Samsung Galaxy

Go to Settings.
Tap Connections.
Select Mobile networks.
Tap Network mode.
Choose an option with 5G or LTE.

Google Pixel and most other Android phones

Go to Settings.
Tap Network & internet.
Select SIMs.
Tap Preferred network type.
Choose 5G or LTE.

Log in to your Ting account and make sure your number is active.

Bigger fixes

These take a little longer, but they often fix stubborn issues.

Using a physical SIM? Turn off your phone, take the SIM out, wait a few seconds, then put it back in and turn your phone on.

Using eSIM? You can skip this step.

iPhone

Go to Settings.
Tap General.
Select Software Update.
Tap Update Now if an update is available.

Android

Samsung Galaxy

Go to Settings.
Tap Software update.
Tap Download and install.

Google Pixel and most other Android phones

Go to Settings.
Tap System.
Select Software updates.
Tap System update.

📌 Note: This will erase your saved Wi-Fi networks, passwords, and Bluetooth connections.

iPhone

Go to Settings.
Tap General.
Select Transfer or Reset iPhone.
Tap Reset.
Choose Reset Network Settings.

Android

Samsung Galaxy

Go to Settings.
Tap General management.
Select Reset.
Tap Reset network settings.
Tap Reset settings to confirm.

Google Pixel and most other Android phones

Go to Settings.
Tap System.
Select Reset options.
Tap Reset Mobile Network Settings and confirm.
Go back and tap Reset Bluetooth & Wi-Fi and confirm.
