Common Voicemail Errors
- Inbox is full: You see an error, but there are no messages.
- Invalid voicemail or phone number: Errors occur when dialing into voicemail.
- Language change: Your voicemail inbox is unexpectedly in another language.
Voicemail Notifications Are Not Being Received
1. Confirm data is enabled
Data is required for voicemail notifications to work.
2. Turn off Do Not Disturb
Ensure Do Not Disturb mode is toggled off.
3. Check notification settings
iPhone
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Notifications.
- Select Phone.
- Check Badges.
- Look for the call/ voicemail badge and enable.
Android
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap the 3-dot menu.
- Select Settings.
- Tap Voicemail .
- Select Notifications.
- Enable them as needed.
4. Verify the correct voicemail number
Confirm your voicemail number is set to your Ting phone number.
iPhone
- Open your Phone app.
- On your dial pad, type 500586*your phone number#
- Tap Call.
Android
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap the 3-dot menu in the top-right corner and select Settings.
- Choose Voicemail.
- Select Setup.
- Tap Voicemail Number.
- Enter your phone number as the voicemail number.
- Tap OK to save.
5. Reset network settings
⚠️ This will erase saved Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings.
iPhone
- Open your Settings.
- Select General.
- Tap Transfer or Reset.
- Choose Reset.
- Select Reset Network Settings.
Android
- Open Settings.
- Tap System.
- Select Reset Options.
- Tap Reset Wi-Fi, Mobile and Bluetooth.
- Tap Reset Settings.
7. Check for software updates
iPhone
- Tap Settings.
- Select General.
- Tap Software Update.
Android
- Tap Settings.
- Select System.
- Tap System Update.
If the voicemail number didn't update automatically, it may need to be manually updated. Errors like “invalid mailbox” or missing notifications can occur if the voicemail number is incorrect.
How to Update your Voicemail Number on Android
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap the 3-dot menu in the top-right corner and select Settings.
- Choose Voicemail.
- Select Setup.
- Tap Voicemail Number.
- Enter your phone number as the voicemail number.
- Tap OK to save.
