Wondering how to get started with Ting Internet? Maybe you’ve already placed your order and picked an installation date and now you’re thinking… what happens next?
From the curious type to the plan-every-detail type, here’s how Ting Internet works from start to finish. No stress. No guesswork, just answers to all your questions.
It's quick and easy to check if Ting is available at your home. Head to Ting.com and enter your address. We'll let you know right away.
Not quite there yet? No worries. Sign up for the waitlist and we'll give you a heads up when we're on the way.
You can create your Ting order in just a few short steps (including scheduling your installation!).
Yes! Ting Internet customers can add Ting Unlimited Combo for just $10/month per line. You get unlimited talk, text, and data, with nationwide coverage. Already ordered or on the waitlist? You qualify too. See how to sign up
You won't be charged when you place your order. Your billing cycle starts the day after your installation, and that date becomes your billing date each month. Internet service is prepaid, so you're automatically charged at the start of each new cycle.
You'll schedule your installation appointment when you place your Ting Internet order.

We get it, life happens. You can reschedule your installation appointment right from your Ting account and pick another time that works for you.
Whole Home Wi-Fi is an optional add-on to your Ting Internet service. It uses eero to create a mesh Wi-Fi system that extends coverage throughout your home.
Yes! As long as it meets the minimum compatibility requirements, you're good to go.
If you're switching from a non-fiber internet service, you can likely ditch your old modem.
Many providers use combo modem/router boxes (sometimes called gateways), but those won't work with Ting. Instead, you'll need a standard wireless router to connect to our fiber equipment, called an ONT.
In most cases, your old devices will keep working with Ting, thanks to backwards compatibility on Wi-Fi standards.
Before your installation, our construction partners will do some minor work outside your home to get things ready. You don't need to be home for this part!
Have sprinklers, an invisible fence, or other private utilities in your yard? Be sure to mark your private utilities before your installation appointment so everything goes smoothly.
To avoid delays, we recommend plugging in your equipment ahead of time. This lets us activate your service as soon as the outside work is done.
We'll create a plan to bury the fiber from the street to the side or front of your home. We'll handle all the digging and burying, and restore your yard as best we can once construction is complete.
If we need to dig, you may see temporary paint markings in your yard. These help us avoid hitting public utility lines.
Outdoor work can take up to 14 days. Don't cancel your current internet just yet. We'll let you know when Ting is up and running.
If your current utilities (like power and telephone) come from poles in front of or behind your house, your new fiber connection will follow a similar path.
Yes! If the ground is frozen, we may run a temporary fiber line above ground along the side of your home. We'll come back and bury it permanently once the weather allows.
From start to finish, installation takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.
NID (Network Interface Device)
The NID is a small white or gray box installed on the outside of your home, usually between 36" and 60" high. This is where the fiber enters your home. The fiber line runs from the ground, up the side of your house, and into the NID.
ONT (Optical Network Terminal)
The ONT is installed inside your home. It connects Ting fiber to your router.
We need someone 18 or older at home during the installation. If you can't be there, a family member, friend, or neighbor can stand in for you.
As tempting as nose boops are, we'll have to pass this time. For everyone's safety, please keep pets secured during the appointment.
You can submit a construction concern by emailing constructionexperience@ting.com. We'll take it from there.
