Staying connected is important. If you’re unable to send or receive group with your Ting SIM, follow these steps to resolve the issue.
Step 1: Try Sending a Text Message
Send a message to a single contact to confirm that basic texting works.
Step 2: Turn Off Wi-Fi and Check Data

Step 3: Check Your Messaging Settings
- iPhone: Go to Settings > Messages > iMessage and ensure it’s toggled On.
- Android: Open Messages, tap your profile icon (or menu icon), navigate to Messages settings > RCS chats, and ensure RCS is toggled On.
- Note: RCS services are unavailable on Ting V1 SIMs activated after July 12, 2024.
Step 4: Confirm Airplane Mode is Off
- iPhone:
- Swipe down to open the Control Center.
- Tap the airplane icon to disable Airplane mode if it’s highlighted.
- Android:
- Open Settings > Network & Internet.
- Toggle Airplane mode Off.
Step 5: Restart Your Device
A quick restart can refresh your connection to the cellular network.
Step 6: Check Your Phone Number Status
Log in to your Ting account and verify that your number is active.
Step 7: Confirm You Are Not Roaming Internationally
Ting Mobile currently supports roaming only in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Step 8: Confirm Your Software Is Up-to-Date
- iPhone: Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
- Android: Open Settings > System > System Update.
Step 9: Review Network Settings
Reset Network Settings
Note: This will erase saved Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings.
- iPhone: Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
