Two-factor authentication adds extra security for Ting customers' accounts.
With two-factor authentication, you need two pieces of information to access your account. First, you need to provide your username and password. Second, you need a unique code from your mobile phone or an authenticator app.
Even if someone gets your username and password, they can't access your account without the code from your phone or app. Without both, your account stays secure.
Two-factor authentication provides the best security for your Ting Mobile account. When you sign in, you'll need to set up two-factor authentication if you haven't done it yet.
Sign in to your Ting Mobile account.
If you don't see a pop-up window to set up two-factor authentication or want to change your method, go to Account settings and click Manage account security under Account security.
In the two-factor authentication window, type your password and click Continue.
Select your preferred two-factor authentication method.
If you have two-factor authentication and want to change the phone number, select I want to use another phone.
Follow the on-screen instructions to set up with an authenticator app or text message.
Step A: Download and open an authenticator app.
Step B: Using the authenticator app, scan the QR code shown on the screen, or enter the Manual key.
Step C: Enter the verification code generated by the authenticator app and click Enable.
Step A: From the drop-down menu, choose the Ting phone number for the code.
Step B: Enter the code that you received via text, then click Save settings.
Two-factor authentication is successfully enabled!
Print your recovery codes and keep them safe. Use these codes if you can't use your 2FA method to get into your account. Each code works only one time, so mark off the ones you've used. When you get new codes, the old ones won't work anymore.
