Setting up a Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID) and Password for a Zyxel EMG3425-Q10A Ting Router

This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to set up a Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password for a ZyXel EMG3425-Q10A Ting router.

These instructions only apply to ZyXel EMG3425-Q10A Ting routers. To make configuration changes for other routers, refer to the manufacturer's instructions.

1) Connect Your Device to the Router

First, connect your device—be it a phone, laptop, or another device—to the router. Plug an Ethernet cable from your device into one of the LAN ports on the router's back. If Ethernet isn't available, connect via Wi-Fi.

Connecting via Wi-Fi

  1. To connect to Wi-Fi, use the default network SSID that starts with "ZyXEL".
  2. Find the password at the bottom of the sticker after “(WPA-PSK):” and use it to connect your device to the network.

  • Check the front of the router to see if the 2.4G and 5G indicators are lit.

    1. If they aren't, locate the Wi-Fi on/off button at the back of the router (near the bottom right corner) and press it once.
    2. Wait for a moment and then check the lights again.

If both the 2.4G and 5G lights are on, but the network is still isn’t listed on your device:

    1. Locate the reset button at the back of the router, near where the power cord connects to the unit.
    2. Hold down this button for 10 seconds using either a bent paper clip or the tip of a pencil.
    3. After 10 seconds, release the button and wait until the power light on the front stops flashing.
    4. Once the light is steady, check your device for the ZyXEL network name again.

2) Login to the Router's Configuration Interface

  1. Open a web browser and enter
  2. You will be prompted to enter a username and password. Refer to the sticker on the back of your router. Typically, the default username is 'admin' and the password is '1234'.

Zyxel's login page displays a User and Password field and a white Login button..

  3. You'll be prompted to change the password.

This is not the same as the Wi-Fi password - this one controls admin access to your router. Choose a new password for your router's configuration interface and make sure to remember it (by writing it down or best to save it in a secure password manager application).

3) Configure the Router

  1. From the left nav, click the Configuration gear icon.
ZyXEL configuration screen that lists menu icons on the left. The Configurations icon is a yellow gear and when the Network listing is expanded, it includes Wireless LAN 2.40 and Wireless LAN 5G.
  2. Under Network, click Wireless LAN 2.4G.
  3. Enter your preferred Wi-Fi network name in the Name (SSID) field. Choose a name you can easily recognize.
  4. [Optional] If you want to change your Wi-Fi password, edit the Pre-Shared Key field. This is your Wi-Fi password.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Repeat steps 2-5 for the Wireless LAN 5G network.

After a few minutes, your new Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID) should appear on your Wi-Fi devices.

If you were connected to the old Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID) when making these changes, you'll need to reconnect using the new name. If you changed the Wi-Fi password, remember to use the new one!
