Whole Business Wi-Fi Network Frequently Asked Questions
See the Setting up Whole Business Wi-Fi help article for information on getting started with Whole Business Wi-Fi. The following will help you set up your network in eero Insight for Business once your account is set up.
To set up a new business network, you will first need to add the name of your business. A business name is an easy way to identify your network when you have more than one network with the same Wi-Fi name.
The business name can be the same or different from the network Wi-Fi name. Once the business name has been added, you can now set up the network.
What if I'm having issues logging into Insight?
If you are experiencing issues logging into Insight, make sure you have verified your email address:
- Go into the eero app.
- Navigate to Settings > Account settings > Email address
- If you have not verified your email, there will be a red notice to verify on this page.
From here, you can resend a verification code to your email and enter it back in the app (similar to two-factor authentication). Once done, you should be able to log into Insight with the same credentials you use for the app.
How do I set up my network name (SSID)?
An SSID is the name you assign to your network.
Before you begin, make sure you have the following when setting up your eero wifi network:
- Your eero 6e Pro router(s)
- Power Cord
- Ethernet cord
- Modem
Note
Your phone or tablet will need access to cellular data and Bluetooth turned on.
To set up your network:
- Unplug any old equipment from power. If you have any other equipment connected to your ONT, unplug it and restart the ONT.
- Connect your eero device to your ONT using the Ethernet cable included in the box. You can use either of the ethernet ports on the back of your Gateway eero device.
- Plug your eero device into an available power outlet, then reconnect your modem to power. Your device’s status light will start flashing white.
- Select where your eero device is located.
- Give your eero Wi-Fi network a name and a password. Note: Your password must be a minimum of 8 characters and must contain special characters.
- Your eero Wi-Fi network should now be up and running.
What happens after I set up my network?
When eero for Business is enabled, a password-less Guest Network will be created by default for use. You can adjust these settings and set up additional business features such as multi SSIDs (i.e., Guest, Business and IoT networks) and Captive Portal.
By enabling additional SSIDs, you will have the ability to provide different types of network access to different users (for example, visitors, employees, business critical devices).
Note
The password-less Guest Network will have Captive Portal enabled upon creation of the network.
What is the difference between Main, Guest, Business and Internet of Things (IoT) Networks?
- Main Wi-Fi Network: Your main network can be used for a variety of purposes. This network grants access to various types of users, devices, and systems.
- Guest Wi-Fi Network (Captive Portal Network): Guest Wi-Fi access can be separated from employee Wi-Fi access via a dedicated guest Wi-Fi network. This is suitable for guest devices.
- It is not recommended to use this Wi-Fi network for employee devices or devices that process financial transactions such as Point of Sale devices.
- The guest network should always be used to provide Wi-Fi access to third parties.
- Business Wi-Fi Network: Using the business Wi-Fi network, any devices that process payments or financial transactions such as point of sales systems can be isolated from the rest of the network, preventing employees or guests from accessing payment or credit card data.
- Internet of Things (IoT) Wi-Fi Network: eero’s out of the box IoT Wi-Fi network allows businesses to segregate their IoT and security devices, creating dedicated IoT control. This is suitable for security devices such as security cameras, alarm panels, sensors and other IoT devices needing to be secured or isolated from the rest of your network.
Note
While all Wi-Fi networks are isolated from each other, it is important to note that on the Guest and IoT networks, no two devices can talk to each other. This further enhances security of common types of devices that connect to guest and IoT networks.
